Morning all, I hope this fine morning finds you well! Sorry there was no blogging for a couple of days but have been enjoying a chilled out time with the beautiful ladies, doing what we do, eating, gossiping, rock climbing, the usual.....
So let's start with Tuesday when I was going round to see Tracey's new house at 2pm, so in the morning I took myself out to Glenelg, a great seaside town not far from here. Been there many times before but I just love the relaxed feel, the esplanade lined with tall pine trees intermingled with palms, and the fact you can wander up and down the high street looking in all the little shops and soaking up the feel of the place.
Parked a few streets away so I could enjoy a walk along the front, and after that exercise I fancied a drink so I stopped in the Tea House which, funnily enough, specialises in tea. And lots of it. Too much choice in fact as out of the 56 interesting named samples, I plumped for a green tea with jasmine which I thought was a particularly poor effort under the circumstances. But not as poor as the woman who rolled in and ordered a toasted sarnie and a milkshake.....
Moved on the next little seaside spot, and this one really is smaller, with a fab selection of speciality shops and cafe's serving the most delicious fayre, but just a bit of shopping for me before heading out to The Crawley's.
Now their name lends itself to a Downton Abbey residence and it was not far off, gorgeous place, mind you their last gaff was not half bad either!
Spent a lovely few hours with Tracey and her lovely family was rounded off with a fab beef curry before heading out for our evening entertainment - Gold Class!!!!
For those of you not familiar, Gold Class is the cinema. But not just any cinema. VIP cinema. You are met, taken through to the special area where you lounge and relax whilst enjoying a beer, perusing the menu for the most gorgeous food and drink to be bought to your seat at times of your choosing. Then it's through the viewing room, one screen and 24 huge reclining chairs (that recline right back which I found out to my squealing delight) set in pairs with a table in between for all the food and booze you have ordered. Lush! Now you have to get the longest film you can to get the most from the experience, so 2 1/2 hours of Brad Pitt in Fury ensued, interspersed with several helpings of food and booze all topped off with the strongest Baileys coffee I have ever had. The film was magnificent, don't let the critics put you off. Really moving and you got totally immersed in the strory, the horrors of War and how if shapes peoples lives. Very moving.
We lightened the mood by having fun with the advertising posters for the film, just think 12 foot high Brad Pitt, four women over 40, some booze and a camera and you can probably imagine the rest (if not there are pictures......)
By the time it was over it was after midnight so home to bed to re-charge for another day of girly escapades on Wednesday, which started the way it was to continue with food!!
We headed for Hallett Cove and the Boatshed for a fabulous gourmet breakfast in beautiful surroundings. Just the right way to start the day. A walk on the beach followed, collecting some of the amazing colourful stones, meandering along the shoreline dressed for a nice day out, not for what followed.
There was a big rock on the beach. A fairly high rock. And I am not sure who suggested it, but it apparently seemed to be a good idea to get on top of it for a picture. Let's just say we gave the people in the café and on the prom a good show. It included leg ups, shoving bums in faces, grunting, lots of 'I can't do it I'm scared' squealing, laughing, dexterity and several attempts to set up the camera for a shot which resulted in several lovely shots of the sea and Tracey having to get on and off said rock a number of times (which she did with such grace in a floor length frock, unlike someone else I could mention - Shamu sprung to mind a they heaved my flowery clad arse onto that rock).
Picture finally taken and the drama of getting down negotiated with the same vigour, we headed back to the car very proud of our achievements and looking for the next food stop!
This was back to the Cease and Sekkle in Aldinga, as we didn't get to eat there last time. And it didn't disappoint. Gorgeous fresh food, which is what we needed so soon after a gourmet breakfast and enough fried goods last night to sink the Man 'v' Food guy.
So as we sat and soaked up the sun we ate and chatted and laughed and generally put the world to rights. The trip was completed with a stop at the amazing bakery opposite, The Home Grain Bakery, home to some of the best baked goods that have ever been created, the most friendly and happy staff and the Australian version of Paul Hollywood (same bread kneading hand and forearms, topped with just as blue eyes) and I did a good job of making innuendoes out of the Vegan sausage rolls and cronuts, and left with a smile on my face (but probably not as much as him when I walked into the barrel on the way out!) So if you are reading this thank you for your beautiful baked goods and even lovelier sense of humour!!
There were kids to pick up from school so we headed back, stuffed to the gills and with plans for a two hour sunset beach walk to top of an amazing day which did not disappoint. So after a snooze by the pool at chez Heggie and a Barbie (woooooooooo) we were soon walking down the seafront from Seacliff to Brighton accompanied by the most incredible sunset. It made the hairs stand up on our arms and necks, and after enjoying Mother Nature's wonder once again we settled into Copenhagen's for a hot chocolate (rim of cup dipped in melted chocolate which was duly licked off by all!)
A brisk walk back to the car whilst looking into all the stunning beachfront properties and dreaming, ended in falling into bed very content and happy with life.
And now the new day has dawned, and a stunner it is going to be.
So until tonight (or maybe tomorrow morning depending on what occurs today...)
Love you all and
TTFN xxxx
