I told you I'd be back!!!

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

It's here, the moment you have all been waiting for, the return of the Big Fat Adventure blog!!

And this time it's a little different.  Me and my Pops are taking on Awstralia (as he insists on saying it)!

So here is the story so far......

Pops got in touch with an old school friend called Fred via the t'interweb (in a round about sort of way) and  it turns out he lives in Sydney.  So, one day Pops says to me 'Fred has asked me over (or under whichever way you look at it) and when can we go.....?'  Slow down I said, let's make sure he meant it and was not just being polite (how often have we done that and lived to regret it......)

And what do you know, he meant it!!  So then came the planning, and my Pops is even more impatient and excitable than me (now you know where I get it from).  Mum didn't want to go, madness, and the thought of Pops negotiating the 23 hour journey unaided filled many with joy at the scrapes he would get up to, but for me just dread at the thought of a phone call in the middle of the night from some far away place asking me if I was related to an affable, but slightly inebriated Northerner with wonky glasses and a newly acquired facial tattoo and small Asian wife (think the Hangover and you may have got it.....)

So I became his chaperone (or carer, whichever will get us better seats on the plane) Hard job, but someones gotta do it and it all fell into place.

The plan of action is as follows.....

Me and Pops fly to Sydney, I can make sure he gets up, walks around, drinks water, doesn't get drunk, moves his legs. eats his dinner, sleeps and arrives safely without blood the consistency of treacle (rather that the alternative which in all reality probably will happen for both of us), we spend 3 nights there and I get to show him what a wonderful time can be had and then meet with the long lost Fred.
Then I shall leave Pops and Fred to have a whale of a time whilst I sneak off for 3 nights on the Gold Coast and onto Adelaide to catch up with some of the wonderful ladies!!  Then it's back to Sydney for the last night altogether before the flight home, where neither of us will get up, walk around, drink water, move our legs, eat our dinner, or sleep and arrive home with blood the consistency of treacle.....

There we have it!! And another exciting development is that Pops SHOULD be able to add his own posts to the blog!! Not been tried but we will give it a go!

So here I sit on the night before we leave, writing lists of what to not forget, counting down the time till check in and hoping Pops will turn on his coal fired computer to enable me to print the boarding passes and I can't wait to share this adventure with him.  I just wish Mum was coming too but I know she will be looked after while we are away and is thinking that 3 and a half weeks could have been longer.....

The next check in will probably be the airport so until then faithful followers, it's great to be back.....!!
